COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Podiatry program is structured over three years to develop the clinical, diagnostic, and professional competencies required for advanced podiatric practice and HCPC registration. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Foundations of Knowledge in Practice and Advancement of Knowledge in Practice, which introduce the core principles of podiatry, anatomy, physiology, and evidence-based healthcare. The module Core Proficiencies in Clinical Practice provides hands-on training, allowing students to develop essential practical and communication skills within clinical environments. In the second year, the focus shifts to advanced diagnostic understanding through Clinical Assessment and Diagnosis 1 and 2, where students refine their ability to assess, interpret, and manage complex foot and lower limb conditions. The module Assessment, Diagnosis and Management in Clinical Practice integrates theoretical knowledge with clinical decision-making and patient management strategies. In the final year, Advancing Professional Knowledge and Practice encourages critical reflection, leadership, and professional development, while Advanced Clinical Practice consolidates clinical expertise through practical experience in real healthcare settings. Together, these modules prepare graduates to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred podiatric care while contributing to research, innovation, and service excellence in diverse clinical and community contexts.
