COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Sports Rehabilitation and Exercise Rehabilitation program is structured around three core modules that provide a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research experience. The Injury Prevention and Performance Management module focuses on understanding the mechanisms of sports-related injuries, strategies to reduce risk, and methods to optimise athlete performance. Students explore evidence-based approaches to conditioning, monitoring, and maintaining physical health in sports and exercise settings, developing the ability to design and implement effective prevention programs. The Rehabilitation of Musculoskeletal Injury module builds on this foundation by examining assessment, diagnosis, and treatment strategies for musculoskeletal injuries commonly encountered in athletic populations. Students learn advanced rehabilitation techniques, exercise prescription, and clinical decision-making skills, with an emphasis on applying knowledge in practical, real-world scenarios. The Dissertation module allows students to undertake an independent research project, synthesising theoretical understanding and practical experience to investigate a specific area of interest within sports rehabilitation. This provides an opportunity to develop research skills, critical analysis, and professional communication, while contributing to evidence-based practice. Together, these modules equip graduates with the expertise to work confidently in sports rehabilitation, performance management, and allied health roles, combining scientific understanding, practical application, and research competence to support injury prevention, recovery, and overall athlete wellbeing.
