COURSE CURRICULUM

This postgraduate program is designed to enhance the research, analytical, and practical skills of nurses and midwives, equipping them to deliver evidence-based care across a variety of clinical and healthcare settings. In the first trimester, students engage with core modules on critically exploring professional practice and research methods, providing a solid foundation in evaluating healthcare practices and understanding research design, methodology, and ethics. This initial stage develops the ability to appraise and apply evidence in professional practice, fostering critical thinking and reflective skills essential for effective patient care. The second trimester builds on this knowledge with modules on evidence-based practice for patient care, research methods, and project management and methods of inquiry, enabling students to integrate research findings into real-world healthcare scenarios. This stage emphasizes practical application, encouraging learners to manage projects, evaluate interventions, and improve service delivery through informed decision-making. In the final trimester, students undertake a dissertation, which allows them to independently investigate a relevant research question, demonstrating mastery of research skills, critical analysis, and evidence-based application. By completing this program, graduates will be prepared to contribute to high-quality patient care, participate in research initiatives, and influence practice and policy within diverse health and social care environments.
