COURSE CURRICULUM

The Public Health program offers a focused curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical expertise needed to address complex health challenges. Core modules such as Principles of Public Health provide a foundation in key concepts, including the determinants of health, health promotion, and population health strategies. Applying Population Health develops students’ ability to translate public health theory into practice, examining interventions, policy development, and the impact of health initiatives on communities. Evidence-Based Public Health emphasises the critical appraisal and application of research to inform effective decision-making and policy implementation. Global Health Economics explores the economic aspects of health systems, resource allocation, and the financial considerations of health interventions in both local and global contexts. The Dissertation allows students to undertake an independent research project, applying theoretical and methodological knowledge to investigate a specific public health issue in depth, and contributing to evidence-based practice. Students may also have the option to focus on either Principles of Public Health or Applying Population Health to tailor their learning to specific interests and career goals. Overall, the program prepares graduates to critically evaluate health challenges, design and implement interventions, and contribute to public health policy, research, and practice in a range of professional settings.
