COURSE CURRICULUM

The Project Management in Construction program is structured over three trimesters to provide a blend of theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and research expertise essential for managing construction projects effectively. In Trimester One, students study Culture and Change Management, exploring how organisational culture and change initiatives impact project success, alongside Procurement, which focuses on sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and value-driven purchasing. Construction Teams examines the dynamics of teamwork in project delivery, while Contracts Management and Practice covers legal frameworks, contract administration, and risk allocation within the construction industry. Trimester Two builds on this foundation with Process Management in Construction, where students develop skills in workflow optimisation and efficiency improvement, and Lean Production and Construction Principles, which introduces lean methodologies for reducing waste and enhancing project performance. Project Management Practice provides practical insights into planning, monitoring, and executing projects, and BIM and Digital Transformation in the Built Environment explores the role of digital technologies, including building information modelling, in modern construction management. Trimester Three is dedicated to the Dissertation, allowing students to undertake independent research on a topic relevant to construction project management, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application. Together, these modules prepare graduates to lead complex construction projects, manage teams and resources effectively, and implement innovative solutions within the evolving built environment.
