COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Internet of Things with Data Science program is structured around a combination of core and optional modules, providing students with a thorough understanding of IoT technologies, data analytics, and their practical applications. Core modules include Machine Learning and Data Mining, where students develop the skills to extract meaningful insights from large datasets, and Principles and Design of IoT Systems, which explores the architecture, design, and implementation of connected devices and sensor networks. Security and Privacy in IoT addresses the critical challenges of protecting data and ensuring secure communication across IoT systems, equipping students with knowledge of risk assessment, encryption, and privacy frameworks. The MSc Project serves as a capstone experience, allowing students to apply their learning to a substantial independent research or development project that demonstrates technical proficiency, problem-solving ability, and innovative thinking. In addition to the core modules, students select one optional module, either Advanced Databases or Big Data Tools and Techniques, further enhancing their data handling, analytical, and computational skills. This combination of modules ensures that graduates gain both theoretical understanding and practical expertise in IoT and data science, preparing them for careers in industries such as healthcare, commerce, professional services, and the built environment, where connected technologies and data-driven decision-making are increasingly vital.
