COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Environmental Assessment and Management program is structured across three trimesters, combining theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience to prepare graduates for careers in environmental management, regulation, and consultancy. In the first trimester, students focus on Postgraduate Scholarship Skills, developing essential research, analytical, and academic competencies, alongside Standards and Auditing, which introduces key frameworks and methodologies for evaluating organisational compliance and environmental performance. Students also select two optional modules from Environmental Pollution and Remediation, Energy Sustainability, or Resource Security, allowing them to tailor their learning to their specific interests and career goals. The second trimester emphasizes applied practice and research skills. Professional Practice provides hands-on experience in environmental management contexts, while Research Design and Delivery equips students with the tools to plan and conduct rigorous scientific investigations. Environmental Impact Assessment and Risk Regulation explore methods for assessing and managing environmental risks, regulatory frameworks, and the practical application of sustainable practices in organisational settings. The final trimester is dedicated to the Dissertation, an independent research project that enables students to integrate their learning and address a real-world environmental challenge, demonstrating their ability to analyse, evaluate, and provide solutions. This structure ensures that graduates develop a comprehensive understanding of environmental assessment, management strategies, and policy implementation, preparing them to contribute effectively to sustainable development and environmental protection across multiple sectors.
