COURSE CURRICULUM

The course in diabetes care is structured around a series of modules that provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support high-quality, evidence-based practice. The Diagnosis, Classification and Prevention of Diabetes module introduces students to the fundamental principles of identifying and categorizing diabetes, as well as strategies for preventing the onset of the condition through early intervention and public health approaches. Therapeutic Advances in Diabetes and Self-Care Management focuses on the latest treatment options, pharmacological developments, and approaches to empowering patients to manage their condition independently, fostering patient-centered care. The Diabetes Complications and Management in Marginalised Groups module addresses the complexities of diabetes care in vulnerable populations, highlighting health inequalities and providing strategies to deliver effective, equitable care tailored to diverse needs. Research Methods equips students with the skills required to critically appraise, design, and conduct research, enabling them to integrate evidence-based practice into clinical decision-making and contribute to the advancement of diabetes care. The program culminates in the Dissertation, a substantial independent project where students apply their learning to explore a topic of personal or professional interest, often linked to clinical practice or service improvement. Collectively, these modules provide a comprehensive framework for developing clinical expertise, research competence, and professional skills, preparing graduates to make a meaningful impact in diabetes care across a range of healthcare settings.
