COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Dance and Professional Practices is structured across three semesters, each designed to progressively develop students’ creative, professional, and practical skills in dance. In the first semester, students focus on Advanced Dance Practices, where they deepen their technical and artistic abilities, and Collaborative Practices, which emphasizes teamwork, interdisciplinary projects, and the development of effective communication and leadership skills within a creative context. These modules provide a strong foundation for understanding both individual and group dynamics in professional dance environments. In the second semester, students engage in Professional Career Practices, a module aimed at preparing them for the practical realities of working in the dance industry. This includes career planning, project management, networking, and exploring diverse professional opportunities such as performance, teaching, choreography, and producing. The final semester centers on the Final Major Project, where students integrate their learning from previous modules to produce an independent, substantial piece of work that reflects their personal artistic vision and professional goals. Throughout the program, students are encouraged to experiment, take creative risks, and demonstrate their versatility and innovation as dance artists. This structure ensures a balance between practical skill development, professional preparation, and creative exploration, equipping graduates with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to succeed in a range of dance careers.
