COURSE CURRICULUM

The Podiatry degree at Salford offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required for professional practice. In the first year, students study Integrated Life Science 1 and 2, gaining a strong foundation in the biological and physiological principles underpinning human health. This is complemented by modules in Professional Studies, Intercollaborative Practice, and an Introduction to Gait, providing early exposure to clinical reasoning, teamwork, and patient-focused care. In the second year, students build on this foundation with more specialized modules, including Musculoskeletal Conditions 1, Applied Clinical Medicine, Prescription Only Medicine, and Local Anaesthesia, allowing them to develop practical expertise and a deeper understanding of treatment and management strategies. The final year focuses on advanced clinical practice, research, and professional development, with modules such as Enterprise in Podiatry, Diagnosis and Management, Methods of Enquiry (Project), Patient Management in Practice, and Management of Health and Wellbeing. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience in clinical and workplace settings, integrating theory with practice to enhance competence and confidence. By the end of the program, graduates are well-prepared to enter the podiatry profession, demonstrating strong clinical, analytical, and interpersonal skills necessary for delivering high-quality care in a range of healthcare environments.
