COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Mathematics program provides a comprehensive study of both pure and applied mathematics, equipping students with the skills and knowledge required for a wide range of analytical and problem-solving roles. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in probability, analysis, linear algebra, mathematical methods, mathematical modelling, and mechanics with vector calculus. These courses develop core mathematical skills, fostering logical thinking and quantitative reasoning. The second year expands on these foundations with business and industrial mathematics, advanced mathematical methods, numerical analysis, statistics, applied mathematics, and dynamical systems, allowing students to apply theoretical concepts to practical and real-world contexts. In the final year, students focus on advanced mathematical methods, mathematical statistics, programming and optimisation, and operational research, while completing a substantial project that encourages independent research, critical analysis, and the integration of knowledge gained throughout the course. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on developing both technical proficiency and problem-solving capabilities, ensuring students can approach complex issues systematically and creatively. Graduates leave the course with a strong mathematical foundation, practical analytical skills, and the ability to apply mathematical concepts to diverse professional fields, including finance, engineering, data science, and research.
