COURSE CURRICULUM

The Video Game Design and Production degree provides students with a comprehensive foundation in game development, blending technical, creative, and professional skills to prepare them for the dynamic games industry. In the first year, students develop a solid understanding of game design fundamentals, visual arts, entertainment technologies, digital graphics, programming, and principles of digital game design. This establishes the technical and creative skills necessary for building interactive and engaging games. In the second year, the focus shifts to game development foundations, human data interaction, and advanced gameplay development, allowing students to explore more complex systems and user-centered design approaches. Students can also specialise through optional modules such as digital environment art, games engine programming, digital character art, and advanced games engine programming, tailoring their studies to align with individual career aspirations. In the final year, students consolidate their learning by creating a creative portfolio and undertaking a final project, which includes proposal development, prototyping, and project completion, alongside a practice-based dissertation. This hands-on, project-focused approach ensures graduates leave with a strong body of work, practical experience, and the professional skills required to thrive in roles across programming, design, and art within the global games industry.
