COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Management degree at the University of Salford provides students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental systems, sustainability, and management practices, equipping them with the skills needed to address real-world environmental challenges. In the first year, students build a foundation through modules such as Earth Surface Processes, Environmental Resources, People, Place and Space, Sustainability and Environment, Academic Tutorial, and Applied Skills and Field Course, combining theoretical knowledge with practical fieldwork. The second year develops professional and research skills through modules including Occupational Risk Management, Research in Action, Consultancy Project, and Monitoring Environmental Change, while offering options such as Geographical Information Systems and Science, Environmental Protection, or a University Wide Language to allow students to tailor their studies to specific interests. In the third year, students focus on applied decision-making and strategic management through Environmental Decision Making, Corporate Environmental Management, and a Dissertation project, alongside optional modules including Environmental Remote Sensing, Sustainable Cities, Environment and Wellbeing, or a University Wide Language. Throughout the course, students engage in field-based learning, practical projects, and consultancy work, gaining hands-on experience in environmental assessment, monitoring, and sustainable planning. By graduation, students are equipped with strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills, ready to pursue careers in environmental management, consultancy, policy, planning, or sustainability roles across public, private, and non-governmental sectors.
