COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Radiography degree provides a comprehensive program designed to develop the scientific, technical, and professional skills required for a career as a radiographer. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Scientific Principles for Diagnostic Radiography, Patient Centred Care in Medical Imaging, Professional Practice 1, and Introduction to Digital Skills for Radiography, focusing on core scientific knowledge, patient care, and the use of imaging technology. The second year expands on these skills with Applied Imaging, Research Methods, Introduction to Personal and Professional Development, and Professional Practice 2, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in clinical settings while developing research and professional competencies. In the final year, the focus shifts to advanced clinical practice and professional readiness with modules including Into Employment (Radiography), Applied Research Methods, Clinical Governance, Preliminary Clinical Evaluation, Managing Trauma and Challenging Examinations, and Professional Practice 3. These modules emphasize patient safety, complex imaging procedures, clinical decision-making, and professional responsibility. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience in real healthcare environments, working closely with multi-professional teams. By graduation, students are equipped with the practical expertise, critical thinking, and professional understanding required to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging, contribute effectively to patient care, and pursue specialised or advanced roles within the radiography profession.
