COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Science BSc program is a three-year course designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human health, disease processes, and laboratory-based biomedical research. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in genetics, molecules to microbes, human anatomy, cell biology, biomedical skills, and professional skills, developing essential laboratory techniques, scientific literacy, and an understanding of the human body at both molecular and cellular levels. The second year advances students’ knowledge with modules in clinical and molecular genetics, medical biochemistry, haematology and transfusion, pathophysiology, human physiology, and translational research skills, providing both theoretical and practical training in medical and disease-related topics. This stage emphasizes the integration of basic science with applied biomedical practice, preparing students for specialized study and professional laboratory work. In the third year, students focus on advanced areas such as medical and public health microbiology, cell pathology, applied biomedical science, and clinical immunology, alongside completing a research project that consolidates practical and analytical skills. The program equips students with the expertise to understand, investigate, and address complex biomedical challenges, preparing them for careers in healthcare, laboratory research, diagnostics, and related biomedical industries. Graduates leave with a strong foundation in both theory and practice, ready to contribute to advancing medical science and improving patient care.
