COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Design and Technology program is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of both the creative and technical aspects of architecture. In the first year, students build a foundation in law and regulatory frameworks, architectural structures, and representation and modelling, alongside introductory courses in architectural design, construction-focused design, and environmental science. This stage emphasizes developing essential design skills and an understanding of the technical and environmental factors involved in building creation. The second year expands on these skills through modules on the history of architecture and construction, design and construction management, and procurement and administration, while advancing design capabilities with architectural projects focused on construction and urban development. Students also engage in multidisciplinary projects that encourage collaboration and practical problem-solving. In the final year, the focus shifts to specialized and advanced topics, including environmental architectural technology, sustainable conservation and reuse of buildings, modern construction methods, and building performance modelling. Students also undertake a discipline-focused research project and integrated design practice, enabling them to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges. Overall, the program equips graduates with a blend of creative, technical, and professional skills, preparing them for careers as architectural technologists capable of delivering innovative, sustainable, and well-managed building solutions.
