COURSE CURRICULUM

The Media Production program provides a comprehensive and hands-on approach to developing technical, creative, and professional skills for careers in audio and video production. In the first year, students focus on core foundations such as media texts and contexts, content creation and delivery, video production, and radio production, building essential practical and theoretical knowledge. In the second year, professional practice becomes central, allowing students to gain real-world experience while selecting from a variety of optional practice-based modules, including camera and lighting, radio and podcasting features, TV studio production, creative audio, production management, radio drama, and scriptwriting. These modules enable students to refine their technical expertise and explore multiple facets of media production, from audio storytelling to visual content creation. The final year culminates in a major project and dissertation, where students can specialise further by choosing advanced practice modules such as advanced editing, advanced podcast production, drama production, TV studio operations, or long-form broadcast editing, alongside theory-focused options including sonic cultures, British TV fictions, and transmedia storyworlds. Throughout the program, students engage with professional-standard equipment and collaborative projects, developing creative problem-solving, production management, and storytelling skills. Graduates emerge with the confidence, technical proficiency, and industry awareness needed to succeed in the dynamic and competitive fields of broadcasting, media, and digital content production.
