COURSE CURRICULUM

The Technical Theatre degree offers a comprehensive and practical approach to developing the skills needed for careers in stage and production management, lighting, sound, and scenic design. In the first year, students gain foundational knowledge in critical and textual studies, stagecraft, and design, alongside practical training in sound and lighting technology, providing a strong basis for further technical development. The second year focuses on applied theatre and production work, including design for theatre, staging, technical performance projects, and technology in performance, while also offering modules in production management principles. Students have the opportunity to explore optional modules such as multimedia performance, theatre directing, costume design, and production design tools and processes, allowing them to tailor their learning to specific interests. In the final year, the program emphasizes advanced design and professional practice, with collaborative projects and production management experiences that simulate real-world theatre environments. Throughout the course, students work closely with industry practitioners and other creative disciplines, developing both technical expertise and professional awareness. By combining theoretical study, practical training, and collaborative projects, graduates are equipped with the knowledge, creativity, and professional skills required to excel in theatre production, live events, and related creative industries.
