COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Multimedia Journalism degree offers a comprehensive education in modern journalism, combining traditional reporting skills with digital media expertise. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in journalism principles, audio and video storytelling, essential reporting, law and ethics, and multimedia production. This prepares them to communicate stories effectively across multiple platforms while understanding the legal and ethical considerations of the profession. In the second year, the focus shifts to more advanced practice, including multimedia journalism, newsdays, and critical journalism studies, alongside a range of optional modules such as feature writing, lifestyle journalism, sports reporting, podcasting, celebrity journalism, and political communication, allowing students to tailor their learning to their interests and emerging industry trends. In the final year, students consolidate their skills through practical modules in journalism practice, major projects or dissertations, and a selection of advanced optional modules, including investigative journalism, photojournalism, magazine journalism, political and campaigning journalism, media policy, and public relations. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience, develop a professional portfolio, and learn to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of journalism. Graduates emerge equipped to pursue careers across broadcast, print, online, and multimedia journalism, ready to produce engaging, ethical, and impactful content for diverse audiences.
