COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Broadcast Journalism degree provides students with a comprehensive understanding of journalism across multiple platforms, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of journalism, including storytelling, reporting, audio and video production, law, ethics, and multimedia journalism. This foundation equips students with the core skills needed to gather, verify, and present news effectively. In the second year, the focus expands to critical journalism studies, broadcast news production, and specialized modules such as lifestyle, sports, crime, political, music, and war reporting, allowing students to explore areas of personal interest and develop subject-specific expertise. Practical experience is reinforced through live news projects, collaborative exercises, and opportunities to work with University-affiliated news outlets, providing hands-on learning in realistic environments. In the final year, students consolidate their skills through journalism practice and complete a major project or dissertation, demonstrating their ability to research, produce, and present high-quality content. Optional modules in investigative, magazine, political, and photojournalism, along with advanced sports journalism and media policy, enable students to tailor their degree to career aspirations. By the end of the program, graduates are prepared for professional roles in broadcast media, online journalism, multimedia reporting, and related communication industries, equipped with the technical, creative, and analytical skills required to thrive in a dynamic media landscape.
