COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Graphic Design degree at Salford provides a structured and immersive learning experience that develops both creative and professional skills across three years. In the first year, students focus on foundational modules such as MAKE, THINK, and ENQUIRE A, which introduce essential design principles, technical skills, and critical thinking required for creative practice. Building on this foundation, the second year emphasizes practical application and professional readiness through modules like DO and WORK, alongside ENQUIRE B and ENQUIRE C, which encourage research, experimentation, and contextual understanding. At the end of the second year, students have the option to undertake a placement in the design industry or participate in a study abroad program at one of Salford’s partner institutions, providing valuable real-world experience and international exposure. The third year allows students to consolidate their learning and showcase their independence through modules including EXPLORE, AUTONOMY, and ENQUIRE D, which encourage self-directed projects, innovative design solutions, and advanced research skills. Throughout the degree, students develop a highly individualised practice, gaining experience in both conceptual thinking and practical execution. By combining creativity, technical expertise, and professional engagement, the course equips graduates with the skills, confidence, and portfolio necessary to succeed in the competitive and evolving field of graphic design.
