COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Editing, VFX, and Post Production degree provides students with the technical skills, creative knowledge, and industry understanding required to succeed in the film, television, and media sectors. In the first year, students build a foundation through modules such as Shooting for Post Production, History of Editing and VFX, VFX Fundamentals, 3D Content Generation, Introduction to Media Workflows, and Craft Editing Fundamentals. These modules introduce essential techniques in editing, visual effects, and media production workflows, while developing an understanding of the historical and theoretical context of the industry. The second year advances these skills with modules including Long Form Editing for Broadcast, Narrative, Genre and Applied Theory, 3D VFX Practices, 2D Effects and Practices, Finishing for Film and Broadcast, and Collaborative Workflows with Industry Briefs, giving students practical experience and insight into professional production processes. In the final year, students focus on professional and creative development through modules such as Pre-Production Portfolio for Major Project and Professional Practice for Industry. Optional modules include Advanced Editing or Advanced VFX, alongside a choice between a Major Project or Dissertation, enabling students to specialise and showcase their expertise. By graduation, students have a strong portfolio demonstrating advanced editing and visual effects skills, creative problem-solving, and professional readiness for careers in post production, VFX, and media production industries.
