COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA Animation program is structured over three years to provide a comprehensive foundation in animation theory, practice, and professional development. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of animation through courses such as Animation 101 and 102, alongside modules on creative play, storytelling from script to screen, and the art of animation. This stage focuses on developing core technical skills, visual literacy, and narrative understanding, forming a strong basis for further study. The second year builds on this foundation with a deeper exploration of performance and character, specialist animation techniques, and motion design for visual communication. Students also engage in collaborative projects and industry-focused modules such as engagement challenges and production pipelines, gaining practical experience in workflow management and team-based creative processes. In the final year, students focus on independent and research-driven projects through negotiated project phases and a dedicated research project, allowing them to apply their learning to original work while refining their personal style and creative approach. The program culminates with the development of a professional portfolio and employability skills, preparing graduates to enter the animation industry with a strong body of work, practical experience, and the confidence to pursue careers in animation, motion graphics, game design, and related digital media fields.
