COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Real Estate Finance at Henley Business School (University of Reading) is structured as a 180-credit programme combining real estate, finance, economics, valuation, and investment modules. The core of the curriculum typically includes modules such as Real Estate Portfolio Management, Corporate Finance, Real Estate Development, International Real Estate Markets, Real Estate Funding, Real Estate Investment Appraisal, Real Estate Valuation, and Real Estate Economics. These modules collectively build skills in investment decision-making, cash flow modelling, market analysis, valuation techniques, and capital structure understanding, all applied specifically to property markets. Alongside these, students study Real Estate Securities, Real Estate Asset Management, Residential Real Estate and Policy, and Real Estate Law to understand regulatory and institutional frameworks affecting property markets. Optional modules allow further specialisation in areas such as Financial Markets and Institutions, Corporate Finance, International Corporate Finance, Real Estate Economics, and broader management or finance topics depending on career goals. Students may also complete a dissertation (optional in some pathways) focused on applied research in real estate finance or investment. The programme is delivered jointly by the Department of Real Estate & Planning and the ICMA Centre, integrating financial theory with property market practice, and is designed to prepare graduates for careers in real estate investment, development, advisory, and asset management roles across global capital markets.
