COURSE CURRICULUM

This MSc Public Policy programme provides interdisciplinary training in the analysis, design, and evaluation of public policy, combining insights from economics and political science to address complex societal challenges. The compulsory modules build a strong foundation in both economic and political dimensions of policymaking. The Economics of Public Policy equips you with microeconomic and macroeconomic tools to assess policy effectiveness and address real-world issues such as welfare, taxation, and regulation. The Politics of Public Policy examines how policies are formulated, implemented, and evaluated across different institutional and governance contexts. Students also develop research skills through training in either qualitative or quantitative methods, strengthening their ability to design and conduct policy-relevant analysis. A key feature of the programme is the Applied Research Project and Placement or Capstone Project, where students work in teams on real assignments for external organisations, gaining practical experience in policy analysis and communication. Optional modules allow specialisation in areas such as international relations, security studies, diplomacy, terrorism studies, peacebuilding, and global governance, enabling students to tailor the degree to their interests and career goals. Overall, the programme prepares graduates for careers in government, international organisations, NGOs, think tanks, and policy consultancy by combining theoretical knowledge with applied, real-world policy experience.
