COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Project Management curriculum is designed to develop advanced knowledge and professional skills in managing construction projects, with a strong focus on sustainability, finance, law, leadership, and digital innovation. The compulsory modules begin with Principles of Sustainable Construction, which explores environmental, social, and economic sustainability in construction and teaches students how to evaluate and apply sustainable practices in real projects. Construction Contract Law and Procurement provides an in-depth understanding of procurement systems, contractual frameworks, and ethical practice across all stages of construction project delivery. Infrastructure Development and Appraisal focuses on the planning, financial evaluation, and lifecycle assessment of infrastructure projects in both developed and developing economies. Advanced Project Management develops leadership, communication, and coordination skills for managing multidisciplinary teams, using both agile and traditional project delivery methods. Research Skills prepares students for academic investigation by developing methodologies for data collection, analysis, and interpretation, leading into the Research Dissertation, where students conduct independent research in construction project management. Managing Construction Projects: Risk and the Offsite Interface focuses on risk management, cost control, and modern construction methods such as Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA). Optional modules including Business Innovation and Strategy, Innovations in Digital Practice, BIM and Socio-technical Change, and Construction Cost Planning and Economics allow specialisation. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for leadership roles in global construction project management.
