COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc International Accounting and Finance is a 180-credit postgraduate programme designed to provide advanced knowledge of accounting, finance, investment, and financial markets from a global perspective. The programme begins with pre-study preparation courses to strengthen academic and technical skills before formal teaching starts. In Semester 1, students complete core 20-credit modules including International Financial Reporting and Regulation, Investments, Financial Securities and Markets, Management Accounting: Theory and Practice, and Financial Management: Cases and Excel Modelling Applications. These modules develop expertise in financial reporting, investment theory, securities valuation, management accounting, and financial modelling. In Semester 2, students select specialist options worth 20 credits each from areas such as Accounting for Sustainability, Accounting Information Systems, Corporate Governance and Ethics, AI and Data Analytics in Business, Derivative Securities: Pricing, Hedging and Trading, Behavioural Finance, Investment Portfolio Management, Alternative Investments and Structured Products, Advanced Finance Theory with Empirical Applications, and Stock Index Futures. The programme combines accounting, finance, technology, and data-driven decision-making, enabling students to understand both traditional and modern financial practices. During the final stage, students complete either a Project, Accounting Dissertation, or Work Placement and Project, each worth 20 credits, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical business and financial challenges. Overall, the programme develops strong analytical, technical, and professional skills for careers in accounting, financial services, investment management, consulting, and global finance.
