COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Finance curriculum at the ICMA Centre is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of financial markets, investment principles and quantitative methods used in modern finance. The programme begins with core modules that build a strong foundation in financial economics, covering topics such as financial markets and institutions, asset pricing, investment analysis and portfolio theory. Students develop skills in evaluating securities, managing risk and making informed investment decisions based on data-driven analysis. A significant part of the curriculum is dedicated to quantitative and empirical methods, including econometrics and financial data analysis, enabling students to interpret market data and build models for financial decision-making. The programme also includes training in derivatives and risk management, where students learn about futures, options and other financial instruments used for hedging and speculation. Corporate finance concepts such as capital structure, valuation and investment appraisal are also covered to help students understand firm-level financial decisions. In addition, students can choose from a range of optional modules that allow specialisation in areas such as behavioural finance, fixed income securities, international finance, financial regulation, fintech and trading strategies. The curriculum is strongly aligned with industry practice through the use of simulations, case studies and applied projects that replicate real financial environments. Overall, the MSc Finance programme equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for careers in investment banking, asset management, trading, corporate finance and financial consulting.
