COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM International Commercial Law curriculum combines advanced legal research with specialised study of commercial, corporate, financial, and regulatory law in a global context. The programme is anchored by a Dissertation, where students undertake an independent research project, developing expertise in a chosen area of commercial law while strengthening advanced analytical, research, and academic writing skills. A core module, Advanced International Commercial Law Issues, examines contractual relationships, governance structures, mergers, property rights, and the role of institutions in regulating economic activity and commercial interactions. Students further develop their research capabilities through either Research Methods for LLM Students or Advanced Research Methods, which provide training in legal methodology, theoretical frameworks, and dissertation design. A wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies according to career goals and interests. Areas of focus include International Banking and Finance Law, Financial Services Law and Compliance, International Corporate Governance and the Law, International Corporate Finance and the Law, and Legal Aspects of International Mergers, Acquisitions and Takeovers. Students can also explore International Commercial Arbitration, International Investment Law and Arbitration, Corporate Rescue, Intellectual Property Law, Data Protection and Copyright Law, and International Organisations and Global Governance. Additional interdisciplinary options such as Financial Markets and Institutions, Corporate Governance and Ethics, Digital Marketing, and Management in Creative and Cultural Organisations provide broader business perspectives. Graduates gain strong expertise for careers in commercial law, finance, corporate regulation, consultancy, international business, and legal research.
