COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM International Commercial Law with International Banking Law and Financial Regulation provides an advanced and interdisciplinary study of commercial law, banking law, and financial market regulation, preparing students for careers in legal practice, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and international business. The curriculum combines rigorous legal analysis with research training and specialist knowledge of the financial sector. Core study begins with Advanced International Commercial Law Issues, which examines contractual relationships within firms and markets, governance structures, property rights, mergers, and the role of legal institutions in regulating commercial interactions. Students also complete a substantial Dissertation, allowing them to conduct independent research on a specialised topic, demonstrating advanced legal knowledge, critical analysis, and the ability to evaluate legal issues within broader economic, political, and social contexts. To support this research, students choose either Research Methods for LLM Students or Research Methods (Advanced). These modules develop essential research skills, including formulating research questions, selecting appropriate methodologies, engaging with legal theory, and applying advanced academic writing techniques. Throughout the programme, students build expertise in the legal and regulatory frameworks governing banking systems, financial markets, and commercial transactions while strengthening analytical, problem-solving, and research capabilities. The course offers a strong foundation for careers in banking regulation, financial services law, commercial practice, compliance, consultancy, policy development, and further doctoral research in law and finance.
