COURSE CURRICULUM

LLM International Commercial Law with Intellectual Property Law and Management is designed to develop advanced expertise in commercial law, intellectual property, and legal research. Students undertake Advanced International Commercial Law Issues, which explores the legal and economic foundations of commercial relationships within firms, markets, and hybrid governance structures. The module examines contractual arrangements, mergers, property rights, institutional governance, and the regulation of commercial activity, encouraging critical evaluation of how legal frameworks shape business operations and market behaviour. A major component of the programme is the Dissertation, an independent research project that enables students to investigate a specialised topic in commercial law or intellectual property. Through this substantial piece of work, students demonstrate advanced analytical abilities, research competence, and a deep understanding of legal issues within broader social, political, and economic contexts. To support dissertation preparation, students choose either Research Methods for LLM Students or Research Methods (Advanced). These modules provide comprehensive training in legal research design, methodology selection, theoretical frameworks, critical analysis, and academic legal writing. Students learn how to formulate research questions, evaluate sources, and apply appropriate research methods to complex legal problems. Together, these modules build strong intellectual, analytical, and research skills, preparing graduates for careers in intellectual property law, commercial practice, consultancy, policy development, corporate management, innovation-focused industries, and doctoral-level research.
