COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM Advanced Legal Studies curriculum combines advanced legal research training with a wide range of specialist modules that allow students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. The programme includes a Dissertation as its central component, requiring students to formulate an original research question, select an appropriate methodology, and undertake an in-depth legal investigation under academic supervision. Research Methods for LLM Students and Advanced Research Methods support this process by developing skills in legal research design, theoretical analysis, and academic writing. Students can specialise in international law through modules such as Introduction to International Law, Contemporary Issues in International Law, Human Rights Law, Policy and Practice, International Refugee Law, Law of Armed Conflict, The Use of Military Force, and International Organisations and Global Governance. Commercial and corporate law options include International Investment Law and Arbitration, Advanced International Commercial Law Issues, International Banking and Finance Law, International Corporate Governance and the Law, and International Commercial Arbitration, which is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. The programme also addresses contemporary legal challenges through modules such as Internet Law, Emerging Issues in Data Protection and Copyright Law, and Contemporary Issues in Intellectual Property Law. Additional interdisciplinary options in finance, regulation, ethics, governance, digital marketing, and creative industries management further broaden students’ perspectives.
