COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB Law with International Business degree at the University of Reading combines core legal training with foundational business knowledge to prepare students for careers in law, international business, or corporate practice. In the first year, students study English Legal Systems and Skills, which develops essential abilities in legal research, analysis, writing, and oral presentation while exploring how law interacts with wider social and cultural contexts. Core legal subjects include Contract, Criminal Law, Tort, and Public Law 1, which introduce key principles of English law, constitutional and administrative systems, and the protection of rights, alongside the development of argumentation through case analysis and statutory interpretation. Students also take Business in Practice: Markets, Marketing, Management, which introduces core business concepts and organisational functions. In the second year, studies expand to EU Law, Land Law, Public Law 2, and Business in Practice: Accounting for Managers, alongside Firms in the Global Economy, which explores why firms internationalise and the impact of global business activity. In the final year, students study Law of Trusts and Principles of Equity, alongside either Research Writing Credit or Writing Credit Pro Bono and Professional Practice, allowing them to undertake independent research or gain real-world legal experience. This structure develops strong analytical, legal, and business skills with a global focus.
