COURSE CURRICULUM

LLB Law with International Business at the University of Reading is a qualifying law degree that combines legal education with international business studies, preparing students for careers in law, corporate management and global business. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in English law by studying English Legal Systems and Skills, Contract Law, Criminal Law, Tort and Public Law, while also gaining an introduction to business, marketing and management. The programme develops essential legal skills such as research, critical analysis, advocacy, problem-solving and professional communication. In the second year, students deepen their legal knowledge through modules in EU Law, Land Law and Public Law, while also studying accounting and international business through modules such as Business in Practice: Accounting for Managers and Firms in the Global Economy. Optional subjects, including Banking Law and Employment Law, allow students to explore specialised legal areas relevant to commercial practice. In the final year, students study the Law of Trusts and Principles of Equity and choose between completing an independent legal research project or undertaking practical work in a pro bono organisation or professional setting, gaining valuable real-world experience. A wide range of optional modules enables further specialisation in areas such as Commercial Law, Revenue Law, Corporate Social Responsibility, Global Ethics for International Management, Institutions and Emerging Firms, and Developing Personal Leadership. Throughout the degree, students develop a strong understanding of how legal systems and business environments interact on a global scale, learning how to address legal challenges faced by international organisations and multinational companies. Accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board, the programme provides the academic foundation for entry into the legal profession while also preparing graduates for careers in corporate law, compliance, international business consultancy, financial services, government and multinational organisations operating in an increasingly interconnected global economy.
