COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Accounting and Management with Foundation degree combines accounting, finance, management, business strategy, and professional development to prepare students for careers in accounting, management, consulting, finance, entrepreneurship, and corporate leadership. The foundation year introduces students to university study through modules focused on academic skills, sustainable development, business fundamentals, organisational behaviour, and data analysis, helping them build confidence and establish a strong platform for degree-level learning. In the first undergraduate year, students develop core accounting and business knowledge through the study of management accounting, financial reporting, sustainability, business law, data analytics, economics, and professional development. They learn bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, business performance evaluation, statistical analysis, and workplace skills such as communication, business writing, career planning, and time management. During the second year, students deepen their understanding of financial accounting, management accounting, and business finance while selecting from a wide range of optional modules covering taxation, auditing, marketing, banking law, entrepreneurship, information systems, global business, climate change and finance, business strategy, and production accounting. These options allow students to tailor their studies according to their professional interests while developing both accounting expertise and broader management capabilities. In the final year, students focus on advanced financial reporting, management accounting, and professional ethics while choosing specialist modules in areas such as forensic accounting, business taxation, venture capital, international business, information systems, human resource management, project management, corporate social responsibility, commercial law, advanced finance, and Islamic accounting. Students may also undertake independent research projects to strengthen their analytical and investigative abilities. Throughout the programme, there is a strong emphasis on sustainability, ethical decision-making, digital transformation, leadership, global business, and strategic management. The course develops technical accounting knowledge alongside commercial awareness, problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and an understanding of organisational performance. Graduates leave with a balanced combination of accounting and management expertise, making them well suited for careers in accountancy, finance, consulting, marketing, operations, entrepreneurship, and business management. The degree also supports progression towards professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, ICAEW, and CIMA while providing the flexibility to pursue a wide variety of business-related career paths.
