COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Real Estate Finance degree is designed to develop strong analytical, financial, and economic expertise applied specifically to property and real estate markets. In the early stages, students build a foundation in quantitative and contextual understanding through modules such as Introduction to Data Analysis, which focuses on statistical techniques, data visualisation, and the use of Excel and AI tools to interpret real estate-related datasets, and Introductory Economics for Business and Finance, which explores how macroeconomic and microeconomic forces such as inflation, interest rates, unemployment, and market competition influence business and property markets. Core legal and institutional knowledge is developed through Property, Law, Rights and Institutions, while Real Estate Valuation 1 introduces the principles of asset pricing across equities, bonds, mortgages, and real estate investments. Students also examine Contemporary Issues in Real Estate and Planning and Ethics and Sustainable Development, focusing on global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and responsible investment practices. In later years, the programme becomes more specialised, covering Real Estate and Urban Economics, Real Estate Valuation 2, and Real Estate and Planning Law, which strengthen understanding of property markets, valuation methods, and legal frameworks. Advanced financial expertise is developed through Real Estate Finance and Investment, Real Estate Portfolio Management, and Real Estate Securities, focusing on investment strategy, portfolio optimisation, and financial instruments. Quantitative Techniques and Statistics builds econometric and modelling skills, while the degree concludes with a Project in Finance and Investment, integrating theory and real-world real estate finance applications.
