COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Food Business and Marketing programme at the University of Reading provides a structured and applied education in business, marketing, and the global food system. In the early stage, students study core modules such as The Economic Environment, The Food Business, The Fundamentals of Management and Marketing, Global Sustainability: Challenges and Prospects, and Research and Professional Skills for Business and Marketing, which build an understanding of economics, food supply chains, sustainability challenges, and essential research skills. In the second stage, students progress to Applied Marketing and Management, Research Methods and Data Analysis, Practice of Entrepreneurship, and Food Choice, gaining practical knowledge in consumer behaviour, statistical analysis, business creation, and decision-making in food systems. In the final year, students deepen their expertise through Marketing Strategy and Food Policy and Supply Chain Management, focusing on advanced strategic thinking, regulation, and governance of global food systems. They also complete either an Independent Research Project or an Applied Marketing Project, where they investigate a real-world food-related issue or develop marketing solutions for industry challenges. Throughout the degree, emphasis is placed on sustainability, consumer behaviour, innovation, and digital marketing. Overall, the programme prepares graduates for careers in food marketing, business strategy, consultancy, entrepreneurship, and roles across the global food industry and supply chain sectors.
