COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Accounting and Management degree provides a balanced combination of accounting, finance, and business management knowledge, helping students develop both technical expertise and strategic business understanding. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules in accounting fundamentals, management accounting, business performance analysis, business law, sustainability, ethics, data analytics, and professional development. These modules introduce key accounting concepts such as bookkeeping, financial recording, business performance measurement, legal principles, and data-driven decision-making while also strengthening communication, career planning, and professional skills. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge of financial accounting, management accounting, and business finance while selecting from a wide range of optional modules. These options allow students to explore areas such as taxation, auditing and assurance, banking law, marketing, branding, entrepreneurship, business strategy, international management, information systems, climate change and finance, economics, and global business. This flexibility enables students to tailor the degree to their interests while gaining a broader understanding of how organisations operate in domestic and international markets. In the final year, students study advanced international financial reporting, advanced management accounting, and business ethics, developing higher-level analytical, decision-making, and professional judgement skills. Students can further specialise through optional modules covering forensic accounting, business taxation, private equity and venture capital, commercial law, project management, international marketing, human resource management, information systems, corporate social responsibility, advanced business finance, Islamic accounting and governance, and strategic international business. Opportunities to undertake an accounting project also allow students to conduct independent research into contemporary business or accounting issues. Throughout the programme, there is a strong emphasis on ethical decision-making, sustainability, global business awareness, and practical application of knowledge. The course prepares graduates for careers in accounting, finance, management, consulting, entrepreneurship, business analysis, and related fields, while also supporting progression towards professional qualifications with ACCA, ICAEW, and CIMA. By combining technical accounting expertise with broader management and leadership capabilities, the degree develops versatile graduates who can contribute effectively to organisations across a wide range of industries and sectors.
