COURSE CURRICULUM

The language programme is structured to support students at different levels of prior experience and progressively develop their linguistic competence throughout their studies. In the first stage, students choose from Beginners, Intermediate, or Advanced Language modules in French, German, Italian, or Spanish, depending on their existing qualifications. Beginners modules introduce fundamental language skills and lead to an A2 level of proficiency on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), while Intermediate modules build on GCSE or AS-level knowledge to achieve B1 proficiency. Students entering with A-level qualifications can undertake Advanced Language I, which develops skills to approximately B1.2/B2.1 level. In the second stage, students continue advancing through Intermediate, Advanced Language I, or Advanced Language II modules, further strengthening their speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities while preparing for final-year study. The final stage focuses on achieving high levels of fluency through Advanced Language I, II, or III modules. These modules consolidate and refine linguistic competence, progressing students from B1.2/B2.1 to B2.2 and ultimately to C1/C2 level on the CEFR. Throughout the programme, students develop sophisticated communication skills, cultural awareness, and linguistic confidence, enabling them to use their chosen language effectively in academic, professional, and international contexts.
