COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules of the MSc Forensic Toxicology program provide a comprehensive foundation in the scientific, analytical, and professional skills required for a career in forensic toxicology. Advanced Forensic Toxicology focuses on the theory and practice of detecting, identifying, and quantifying drugs, toxins, and other substances in biological samples, preparing students to handle a variety of forensic case types including criminal investigations, workplace drug testing, sports doping, and death investigations. Analytical Data Analysis develops essential skills in interpreting complex datasets, ensuring accurate and reliable conclusions are drawn from laboratory results. Chromatography and Mass Spectrometric Methods equips students with expertise in advanced analytical instrumentation, enabling precise measurement and identification of chemical compounds. The Forensic Toxicology module integrates practical applications with theoretical knowledge, guiding students through processes such as sample handling, extraction, analysis, and interpretation, while emphasising the importance of the chain of custody and quality assurance.
