COURSE CURRICULUM

The core and optional modules of the MSc Developmental Psychology program provide a comprehensive foundation in developmental theory, research methods, and practical applications. Core modules such as Brain, Behaviour and Lifespan Development and Evolution and Human Social Behaviour explore the biological, cognitive, and social factors influencing development across the lifespan. Theories and Mechanisms in Developmental Psychology and Social and Emotional Development provide students with in-depth understanding of key developmental processes and frameworks, while Research Methods in Psychology, Research Methods and Assessments in Developmental Psychology, and Advanced Research Methods in Psychology equip students with rigorous skills in experimental design, data analysis, and critical evaluation. The MSc Thesis allows students to undertake an independent research project, applying theoretical knowledge and research skills to a topic of their choice. Optional modules such as Advanced Research Internship, Advanced Topics in Developmental Psychology, From the Lab to the Real World: Psychology Research in Practice, and Work Experience offer opportunities for specialised study, professional development, and practical engagement with real-world applications of developmental research. Together, these modules combine theoretical, methodological, and practical learning, preparing graduates to pursue careers in developmental research, clinical and educational psychology, or related fields, while equipping them with the analytical, research, and professional skills necessary to contribute effectively to understanding human development in diverse contexts.
