COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules of the MSc Clinical Animal Behaviour program provide a comprehensive foundation in understanding, assessing, and managing behavioural issues in companion animals. Animal Welfare introduces students to the principles of ethical treatment, welfare assessment, and the impact of management practices on animal wellbeing. Clinical Skills for Animal Behaviour Management develops practical expertise in diagnosing problem behaviours and designing individual behaviour modification programs, giving students hands-on experience in applied settings. Development and Regulation of Behaviour explores the biological and environmental factors that influence behavioural development, helping students understand why certain behaviours emerge and how they can be modified. Domestic Animal Behavior and Cognition examines species-specific cognitive processes and behavioural patterns, providing insight into the mental and emotional lives of animals. Human-Animal Interactions focuses on the relationship between animals and their owners, highlighting the influence of human behaviour on animal welfare and the effectiveness of intervention strategies. Research Methods in Clinical Animal Behaviour equips students with the tools to conduct evidence-based studies, including experimental design, data analysis, and critical evaluation of scientific literature. The MSc Thesis serves as a capstone project, allowing students to apply their theoretical knowledge and practical skills to an independent research project.
