COURSE CURRICULUM

The core and optional modules in this program provide a comprehensive blend of advanced chemical engineering, sustainable energy systems, and practical research skills. Core modules such as Energy Integration and Sustainability and Sustainable Energy and Climate Change explore how industries can transition toward low-carbon technologies, optimise energy efficiency, and address global climate challenges. Green Fuel and Engines and Power Systems focus on emerging clean energy technologies, alternative fuels, and the operation of modern power networks. Process Design and Simulation strengthens students’ ability to model, evaluate, and optimise engineering processes, while Research Methods and Engineering Innovation develops the analytical and creative skills needed to conduct rigorous investigations and contribute to technological advancements. The Engineering Research Project serves as a culminating experience where students apply their learning to a specialised challenge in sustainable chemical engineering. Optional modules allow further specialisation: Applied Thermo-fluids Systems deepens understanding of heat and fluid behaviour in engineering applications, Laser Materials Processing introduces advanced manufacturing technologies, and Sensors, Actuators and Controllers covers components essential for automation and process control. Teams and Leadership supports the development of interpersonal and managerial abilities needed for engineering project environments. Together, these modules equip graduates with the technical, analytical, and professional skills required for careers at the forefront of sustainable energy and chemical engineering innovation.
