COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules of the MFA Creative Writing and Publishing program provide a structured, immersive environment for developing both creative and professional skills. The Lincoln Review Internship modules offer students practical experience in editorial processes, publishing workflows, and engagement with literary publications, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. Form and Genre introduces students to the study and experimentation of diverse literary forms and genres, encouraging innovation and versatility in creative practice. The Mentorship modules, divided into Parts A and B across two stages, provide personalised guidance from experienced mentors, supporting students in refining their writing, developing their literary voice, and shaping long-term creative projects. The Publishing Industry module offers insight into professional publishing, covering aspects such as editorial practice, market awareness, and industry trends, equipping students with knowledge necessary for navigating literary careers. The Workshop modules provide collaborative spaces where students receive feedback, engage critically with peer work, and participate in dynamic creative exchanges. Poetics focuses on the theory, history, and philosophy of literature, enhancing students’ critical understanding of literary traditions and contemporary practices. Collectively, these core modules balance practical, theoretical, and professional learning, enabling students to develop literary skill, conceptual understanding, and industry awareness, preparing them for careers as writers, editors, and creative professionals.
