COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA International Relations program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of global issues, combining core and optional modules to develop both theoretical knowledge and practical research skills. Core modules such as Globalisation, Theories and Concepts in International Relations, Researching Social and Political Sciences, and the Master’s Dissertation in International Relations equip students with the analytical tools necessary to critically assess international systems, institutions, and policies. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest, including Analysing Policy Success and Failure, Comparative Legislatures, Global Health: Policy and Practice, Global Issues in Gender and Sexuality, Global Politics and Religion, Masculinities, Power and Society, Political Analysis, Political Leadership, Politics and Public Policy, Public and Political Leadership in Practice, Russia in Context: Politics, Power, and Perspectives, Terrorism, and U.S. Exceptionalism. These options enable students to explore contemporary challenges and regional dynamics in depth, while developing expertise in research, critical thinking, and policy evaluation. The program emphasises independent investigation, evidence-based analysis, and the application of advanced research methods, preparing students to engage with complex international issues. By integrating theoretical insights with practical research experience, graduates gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue careers in diplomacy, international organisations, consultancy, the public sector, or further academic study in international relations and related fields.
