COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLB (Hons) Law and Criminology course provides an integrated understanding of legal systems and the study of crime, justice, and punishment. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through modules such as Constitutional and Administrative Law, Contract Law, and Legal Skills A and B, while exploring criminological perspectives in Becoming a Criminologist and Crime and the Media. The second year builds on these foundations with core modules in Criminal Law, Land Law, Tort Law, and Applying Criminology, allowing students to connect legal principles with the social and theoretical aspects of crime and criminal behaviour. In the final year, studies focus on advanced topics through core modules such as Equity and Trusts, Harm, Power and Justice, and Penology and Penal Policy, which explore the operation of justice systems and punishment theories. A wide range of optional modules, including Drugs and Society, War Crimes and Genocide, Law of Evidence, Policing in Practice, and Life After Prison, enables students to tailor their degree to specific interests or career goals. The course develops essential analytical, ethical, and professional skills, preparing graduates for legal practice or careers within the criminal justice system, public policy, or related social sectors.
