COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Pharmaceutical Science program at the University of Lincoln offers a detailed and progressive curriculum that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required for a career in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. In the first year, students build a foundational understanding of chemistry, human anatomy and physiology, life sciences, and pharmaceutical science, while exploring global health challenges and the basics of the pharmaceutical industry. This year focuses on developing essential scientific knowledge and introducing key industry concepts. The second year expands students’ expertise with advanced modules such as Analytical Chemistry, Drug Design and Development, Drug Formulation and Delivery, Fundamentals of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Immunology, and Medical Microbiology. Students also explore pharmaceutical industry concepts in greater depth, and have the option to undertake a year in industry or a study abroad experience, providing valuable practical exposure. In the final year, the program emphasizes advanced scientific and professional skills through modules including Advanced Drug Delivery, Nanomedicine and Toxicology, Advanced Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Materials Science, Emerging Pharmaceuticals and Personalised Medicine, Business, Regulation and Ethics for the Pharmaceutical Scientist, and a major Pharmaceutical Science Project. Across all three years, students combine theoretical learning with practical laboratory work and research, preparing them to contribute to innovative and responsible drug development and delivery within a global healthcare context.
