COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Nursing (Registered Nurse – Adult) program at the University of Lincoln offers a structured and comprehensive pathway to prepare students for professional nursing practice. In the first year, students build a foundational understanding of healthcare through modules such as Concepts of Health and Illness, Health and Human Development, Nursing in Society, Nursing Practice 1, and Principles of Person-Centred Care. These modules introduce core nursing skills, patient-focused care principles, and the social and professional context of nursing. In the second year, students develop clinical expertise and advanced theoretical knowledge through modules including Adults with Complex Care Needs, Applied Pathophysiology and Pharmacology, Mental Health and Well-being Across the Lifespan, Nursing Practice 2, and Research in Nursing. This year integrates academic study with practical placements, fostering critical thinking, clinical competence, and evidence-based practice. The final year focuses on leadership, decision-making, and specialised nursing skills, with core modules such as Dissertation (Nursing), Leading and Co-ordinating Care, Medicines Management, Nursing Practice 3, and Recognising and Managing the Deteriorating Adult. Throughout the three years, students engage in reflective practice, gain extensive hands-on experience, and develop the confidence and professional skills required to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Graduates are equipped to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care and to pursue a successful career in adult nursing across diverse healthcare settings.
