COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Computer Science course provides an integrated education that combines mathematical theory with computational practice. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through modules such as Algebra, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics, and core computing subjects including Foundations of Programming, Operating Systems, and Introduction to Software Engineering. This combination develops essential analytical, logical, and coding skills. The second year advances these abilities through modules like Artificial Intelligence, Full Stack Development, Differential Equations, and Industrial and Financial Mathematics, supported by a Group Project that applies theory to real-world challenges. Students also explore Coding Theory and User Experience Design, strengthening both mathematical and technological proficiency. In the final year, learners can tailor their studies through a wide range of optional modules such as Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Numerical Methods, Mobile Application Development, and Tensor Analysis, alongside a major Project. These options allow for specialisation in areas like data science, robotics, or mathematical physics. The course blends rigorous mathematical problem-solving with hands-on computer science applications, preparing graduates for careers in software engineering, artificial intelligence, data analysis, finance, and research, where interdisciplinary expertise and innovation are highly valued.
