COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Bioveterinary Science degree at Lincoln is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of animal health, disease, and welfare, integrating scientific knowledge with practical skills. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through core modules in comparative anatomy and physiology, health and disease, animal behaviour and welfare, life sciences, and research methods. This provides a solid grounding in the biological principles and scientific approaches that underpin veterinary practice. In the second year, the focus shifts to more specialised areas including animal health and disease, pharmacology and toxicology, immunology, molecular biology, and data skills, with optional modules allowing students to explore topics such as animal behaviour, animal protection, and clinical biochemistry. This year also offers the opportunity to participate in an international study abroad experience. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through core modules such as control of animal disease and a life sciences research project, while optional modules allow for deeper exploration of topics such as animal cognition and welfare, 21st-century medicine, blood sciences, cancer epidemiology, genetics and bioethics, One Health, veterinary parasitology, palaeobiology, and an overseas field course. The combination of theoretical study, practical laboratory and fieldwork, and optional international experiences equips graduates with the knowledge and skills needed for careers in veterinary support, animal health research, conservation, or further postgraduate study.
